Standard brick runs seven to the square foot
Standard brick runs 7 to the square foot. That's the hard number behind ToolHut's brick calculator: square feet of wall times 7 equals bricks, before waste.
A 300 sq ft wall
300 × 7 = 2,100 bricks for the face alone.
Add 10% waste for breakage and cuts: 2,100 × 1.10 = 2,310 bricks. The calculator rounds that up to a whole brick every time.
Mortar rides on the brick count
Figure 7 bags of mortar per 1,000 bricks: 2,310 × 7 ÷ 1,000 = 16.17, rounded up to 17 bags.
That last fraction matters. A brick count that lands you at 16.01 bags still puts a full 17th bag on the truck.
One thing it does not ask
There's no field for brick size. The 7-per-square-foot figure is built for standard modular brick. A different size on the pallet changes the real count, so check what you're actually laying before you trust the number.
Run your own wall through the brick calculator and get the brick count and mortar bags in one pass.
